IT consulting that turns technology into a plan

Opening a second location, replacing an ageing server, choosing new software, or just not sure what you're paying for? We give you a clear-eyed assessment and a practical roadmap — in plain English, with costs attached.

Overview

IT Consulting & Technology Strategy

  • IT assessments
  • Technology roadmaps
  • Virtual CIO
  • IT budgeting
  • Vendor selection
  • Software evaluation
  • Licence audits
  • Office moves
  • Continuity planning
  • IT policies

Most small and medium businesses don't need a full-time chief information officer, but they do face CIO-sized decisions: whether to replace a server or move to the cloud, which software to standardize on, how much to budget for laptops next year, what a cyber insurer's questionnaire actually requires. IT consulting gives you that senior perspective when you need it.

Engagements usually start with an assessment of what you have — hardware, software, accounts, licences, security settings and the vendors behind them — and end with a prioritized roadmap: what to fix now, what to plan for next, and what can wait. Every recommendation comes with a reason and an estimated cost, so leadership can make decisions instead of guesses.

For ongoing guidance, a virtual CIO arrangement puts regular planning meetings on the calendar to review projects, renewals, risks and budget. Consulting stands on its own, and if you later move to managed IT services, the assessment becomes the onboarding plan — nothing gets done twice.

Who it's for

Who we work with

  • Owners without an IT lead

Leadership teams making technology decisions without anyone on staff who can weigh the options.

  • Fast-growing companies

Businesses adding people, locations or software faster than their systems were designed for.

  • After an incident

Organizations recovering from an outage, a phishing attack or a lost laptop that want to know what else is exposed.

  • Big decisions ahead

Server replacements, cloud moves, new line-of-business software or a merger that changes how systems fit together.

  • In-house IT teams

Internal IT staff who want a second opinion, strategic support or extra hands for a major project.

  • Boards & non-profits

Boards that need technology risks, budgets and priorities explained clearly enough to govern them.

Process

How it works

  1. 01

    Discovery

We learn how the business runs, where technology gets in the way and what decisions are coming up.

  2. 02

    Assessment

A hands-on review of systems, security and costs, documented as we go.

  3. 03

    Roadmap & budget

Prioritized recommendations with estimated costs and timing, presented to leadership.

  4. 04

    Delivery & review

We lead or support the projects you approve and revisit the plan as the business changes.

Pricing

How pricing works

Consulting work is scoped in writing before it starts — as a defined project such as an assessment, or as ongoing advisory time — so the cost is agreed up front.

Not sure whether you need consulting or ongoing support? Read managed IT vs. break-fix support for how the models differ.

  • Number of locations, users and systems
  • Depth of the assessment or project
  • Documentation that already exists

FAQ

IT Consulting questions

What does an IT consultant actually do?

An IT consultant assesses your technology, explains the risks and options in business terms, and helps you decide and deliver. That can mean a one-time assessment, choosing software, planning an office move or migration, building an annual IT budget or acting as a part-time technology leader.

What is the difference between IT services and IT consulting?

IT services keep technology running day to day — help desk, maintenance, security and support. IT consulting is about direction: assessments, planning, budgeting and projects. Many businesses need both, and the best results come when the plan and the day-to-day support are connected.

What is a virtual CIO?

A virtual CIO (vCIO) is a part-time technology executive. Instead of hiring a full-time chief information officer, you get regular planning sessions covering roadmap, budget, risks, renewals and vendor decisions — the strategic side of IT, sized for a small or medium business.

Can you help us choose new software or an IT vendor?

Yes. We document your requirements, shortlist options, check how each one fits with your existing systems and security, ask vendors the awkward questions and compare total costs — including licences, implementation and the time your staff will spend learning it.

Do we need a managed IT agreement to hire you for a project?

No. Assessments, roadmaps and projects are available on their own. If you later decide on ongoing support, the documentation and plan carry straight over.
